Privacy Policy
In short: FjordPace processes your training and health data to analyze your runs and plan your training. We use AI services for this, but only with your explicit consent. We do not sell data, show ads or use tracking.

FjordPace is a non-commercial project run by a private individual and is currently in a private test phase.
2. This website
This website is hosted by Render (Render Services, Inc., USA). When you visit it, the server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested page, amount of data transferred, and browser and operating system details. This is required to deliver the site and protect it against abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The website sets no cookies, loads no external fonts or scripts, and uses no analytics or tracking tools.
3. The FjordPace app
3.1 User account
To sign in, we store your email address and a password, which is only stored in hashed form. Accounts are managed by Supabase (Supabase, Inc.) in a data center in the EU (Paris). The legal basis is providing the app (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
3.2 Training and health data
Depending on what you connect and enter, we process:
- Activities: duration, distance, pace, heart rate, cadence, running dynamics, elevation, power, temperature, laps and intervals, and the device model. Original activity files (e.g. FIT) may contain GPS location data.
- Health and wellbeing data: resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep, body weight, and your ratings of fatigue, soreness, mood and stress.
- Profile and planning: goals, races, heart rate zones, training preferences, lactate values, and free-text information you provide about yourself (e.g. notes on injuries).
- Content created by the coach: analyses, recommendations, training plans and short notes the coach keeps about you (see section 4).
Because this is health data, we only process it with your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). It is stored with Supabase in the EU (Paris) and processed on our server at Render in Frankfurt.
3.3 Connection with Intervals.icu
If you connect your Intervals.icu account, we retrieve your activities, wellness values and calendar entries through the Intervals.icu API. We write planned workouts to your Intervals.icu calendar and, if you record them in the app, your wellbeing ratings. Processing at Intervals.icu is governed by its own privacy policy. You can disconnect at any time.
3.4 Connection with Garmin Connect
Once the direct integration is available and you connect your Garmin account, we receive summaries and original files (FIT) of your activities as well as daily summaries of sleep, HRV and resting heart rate from Garmin. We also send workouts planned by FjordPace as structured workouts to your Garmin Connect calendar so they sync to your watch. The legal basis is your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR). Data from Garmin devices is labelled "Garmin [device model]" in the app. We do not pass Garmin data on to other services, except to the service providers named in sections 4 and 5 that process it on our behalf. If you disconnect, we stop retrieving new data.
3.5 Fonts in the app
On first launch, the app loads fonts from Google servers (Google Fonts). This transmits your IP address to Google.
4. Use of artificial intelligence (AI Transparency Statement)
FjordPace uses AI language models to analyze your training data and plan your training. This includes data from connected sports watches, such as Garmin devices.
- Which AI services: Google Gemini (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC) for analyzing individual sessions and daily recommendations; Anthropic Claude (Anthropic PBC, USA) for weekly and block planning.
- What the AI receives: metrics from your sessions (e.g. duration, pace, heart rate, training load), health values (sleep, HRV, resting heart rate), your goals, races, profile information and feedback. We do not send your email address or GPS tracks. Anything you write about yourself in free-text fields is passed to the coach as you entered it.
- What the AI produces: analyses, recommendations and training plans as text. The coach also keeps short notes about you (e.g. preferences or injury notes) so later recommendations fit. For factual questions, the coach may trigger a web search with the respective AI provider.
- What the AI does not do: it makes no decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Its recommendations do not replace medical advice. Your data is not used to train AI models; we use the providers' paid API access, under which this is contractually excluded.
- Consent and withdrawal: before any AI service processes your data, we ask for your explicit consent. You can withdraw it at any time in the app or by email. After that, we no longer send data to AI services, and the coach can no longer analyze or plan your training.
- Access and deletion: you can request to see or delete the coach's notes about you at any time by email.

Where these providers process data on our behalf, data processing agreements are in place. Transfers to the USA are based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Retention
We keep your data as long as your account exists. If you want your account deleted, send us an email; we will delete your data within 30 days unless legal obligations require otherwise. If you disconnect Intervals.icu or Garmin, we stop retrieving new data, and we delete data already stored on request.
7. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). You can withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). An email to the address above is enough.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the Independent Centre for Privacy Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD) in Kiel, Germany.
8. Age limit
FjordPace is currently intended for adults only.
9. Changes
We update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. We will inform you of significant changes in the app.
